It all starts with what’s known as the incubation period – usually the first one or two days after you’ve been exposed to the virus. During this time, you might feel perfectly fine since symptoms haven't yet shown up, but the virus is quietly making its way through your mucous membranes in your nose, mouth, and eyes.

Soon after, around days two and three, those pesky symptoms begin to sneak in. Tiredness, sneezing, body aches, and an irritating tickle or soreness in your throat often signal that your body is starting to fight the infection. At this early stage, resting and staying hydrated can help slow down symptom severity.
